The full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has resulted in death, broken families, and loss of homes, belongings, savings and jobs. Critical infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, causing disruptions to the supply and access to gas, electricity and fuel.
Attacks by missiles, rockets and drones have not only reduced millions of homes to rubble, but they continue to pose a risk to the safety and security of millions of Ukrainians.
With heavy snow and temperatures dropping as low as –25 degrees Celsius, we need to act now, to protect families from the extreme weather.
With your support, we can replace bombed out windows and doors, and repair damaged roofs. We can also provide insulation kits to keep out the cold and install new heaters.
For families who have no home to repair, we can support them as they find new accommodation and provide emergency items like blankets and bedding, along with cash grants to help them buy essentials like food and medicine.

With teams across Ukraine and in neighbouring countries hosting refugees from Ukraine, UNHCR is providing protection and humanitarian assistance, including emergency shelters, repairs for homes damaged by shelling, emergency cash assistance, and protection such as psychological support. Winter relief is also provided for internally displaced people in need as temperatures plummet, such as high thermal blankets.
We have stockpiles of aid inside Ukraine and neighbouring countries. We urgently need cash donations to help fulfill these supplies and to provide cash assistance directly to refugees from Ukraine and those who are displaced within the country so they can purchase the essentials they need. Your gift will make a huge difference in the life of a refugee or an internally displaced person. UNHCR is urgently responding across Ukraine and in neighbouring countries to support people forced to flee the current crisis. Urgent needs include shelter, relief items such as blankets, sleeping mats, jerry cans to carry clean water, and protection services especially for those most vulnerable, such as unaccompanied and separated children, women and older people, who are the vast majority of those who have fled their homes.
