Since December, deadly clashes in South Sudan have forced thousands to flee their homes. A state of emergency has been declared in South Sudan’s Unity and Jonglei states and the conflict has now spread to seven states across the country.

The fighting has internally displaced 1.7 million people, and forced more than 449,977 South Sudanese to flee into Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan and Uganda. Many are arriving malnourished and in poor health, having come from areas of South Sudan experiencing critical food shortages.

3.7 million people within South Sudan are at risk of food insecurity, conflict and the rainy season is preventing safe access for humanitarian assistance by road.

Amid the ongoing fighting and insecurity, UNHCR is doing everything we can to assist those who have been forced to leave their homes by providing emergency relief, shelter, medical supplies, health clinics, and protection.

UNHCR is also leading efforts to help protect the especially vulnerable, including women and children.

Please help support UNHCR’s work. Your donation will provide emergency relief and life-saving shelter for the thousands who have been forced to flee their homes.
