Women Business Network
On 9 August 1956 over 20,000 women took to the streets in South Africa to protest segregation, inequality and apartheid.
United, the women of all ethnic groups stood together in front of the Union Buildings in Pretoria, chanting the now infamous words, “You strike a woman, you strike a rock!”
Each year now, South Africa commemorates this historical day – National Women’s Day, and month – National Women’s Month to draw attention to the most critical issues facing our continent.
This year, in honor National Women’s Month, the Women’s Business Network for UNHCR is appealing for support for women and daughters forced to flee their homes because of conflict, violence or persecution.
With your support, we can help forcibly displaced women and girls not only survive but also thrive.
