Africa | International Women Day 2022
In Ethiopia, Ukraine, and Afghanistan, refugee and displaced women and girls face unimaginable turmoil and hardship.
When conflict and war break out, pregnant women and mothers struggle without medical assistance, maternal care, food, and shelter.
"I want peace so I can return to the life I had before," Abraht, 23.
Abraht fled her home in Tigray, Ethiopia, when the conflict reached her village. In the chaos of conflict, her husband was captured by armed men.
Abraht was two months pregnant when she fled. She gave birth to her baby daughter without access to proper maternal health care available for her – as a result, Abraht suffers from scars she tries to heal with saltwater.
She worries about her baby because she lacks milk. Abraht eats whatever food she can get – mainly pieces of bread.
Abraht is one of the millions of refugees and displaced women fighting to survive and take care of their young ones.
This International Women's Day, you can help women like Abraht with access to medical assistance, maternal health care, shelter, and food.
Here is how your contribution helps support women and girls forced to flee their homes.
