Emergency in Mozambique - Donate to Refugees - UNHCR, The UN Refugee Agency
A true humanitarian tragedy is happening in Mozambique. Nearly 700,000 people have been forced to flee by an escalating insurgency in the Cabo Delgado northern province.
Brutal attacks by armed groups are dramatically increasing, with horrific reports of beheading – including of children – and rape. The latest deadly attack in Palma killed dozens and forced thousands to flee on foot or by boat. They arrived in safer towns in distress and traumatized, with very few belongings.
We need your help TODAY.
Women and children are the majority of those displaced and the most at risk of violence and abuse. The COVID-19 pandemic, frequent natural disasters and economic and development struggles are exacerbating the crisis in Cabo Delgado.
UNHCR is on the ground providing life-saving emergency assistance and protection services to those forced to flee, such as psychosocial first aid, prevention and response to gender-based violence, shelter materials, sleeping mats, blankets, kitchen sets, buckets, jerry cans and solar lamps.
But the needs are growing by the day, and we cannot stop this spiral of vulnerability alone.
