Everyone deserves a home

Home represents safety, belonging and even a piece of our identity.

For millions of refugees, that sense of home disappears when conflict forces them to flee to safety. They have to leave behind everything they know: the home where their family once lived in peace, the street corner where they once met up with their childhood friends, the place their children go to school.

In 2026, Klarafestival is dedicated to the theme Where is home?

With this question, Belgium's largest classical music festival invites us to make space for the memories, sounds and sense of belonging that travel beyond walls, roofs and geographical borders. 

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, works tirelessly to protect those who have lost their homes.

From repairing a house destroyed by missile strikes in Ukraine and offering emergency shelter to a family in Afghanistan, to advocating for refugees’ rights and helping them rebuild their lives, UNHCR will continue to protect people forced to flee conflict and persecution. 

Even when home is lost, dignity and humanity must prevail.

That is why Klarafestival and UNHCR are joining forces in this fundraiser.

What is UNHCR?

UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) is the United Nations refugee agency.

For 75 years, we have been leading and coordinating relief efforts around the world to protect refugees and find solutions to the refugee situation.

We cannot do this without your help.
