People need support as they face ongoing displacement and uncertainty.

Intensifying hostilities across the Middle East have sharply worsened an already difficult humanitarian situation. The region is home to more than 24 million forcibly displaced people and returnees, many of whom were already facing economic insecurity, protection risks and significant unmet needs. Now, families are being forced to flee once again, often with nowhere safe to go.

In Iran, authorities estimate that 3.2 million people have been relocated internally as a result of the crisis. More than 1 million people are estimated to be displaced inside Lebanon, including people who have already experienced displacement multiple times.

Among those affected are refugees who have already fled violence and are now facing displacement again. Families are carrying what they can, leaving behind homes and livelihoods and struggling to meet their most basic needs.

UNHCR is on the ground across the region, with more than 40 offices in affected and at-risk countries. Teams are providing protection and assistance to people forced to flee, including shelter support, essential relief items, cash assistance and other vital services.

In Lebanon, UNHCR is supporting displaced families with shelter assistance and distributing essential items such as mattresses, solar lamps and jerry cans, while cash assistance helps people meet urgent needs amid rising costs. In Iran, UNHCR is supporting refugees and displaced people through helplines, cash assistance, psychosocial support and other essential services.
