Support families impacted by Cyclone Mocha today

Tens of thousands of displaced families in Myanmar, and refugees and host communities in Bangladesh are in desperate need of emergency aid after Cyclone Mocha’s devastating landfall in the region. Shelters and other critical infrastructure have been flattened and community facilities wiped out, putting thousands at risk.

UNHCR teams are already hard at work, coordinating with relevant actors as they assess the damage and needs on the ground.

We need your help now.

The lives of millions in the region are already vulnerable. The intensification of violence since 2021 and its impact on civilians have forced people to flee into neighbouring countries as refugees, and displaced many more within Myanmar. Almost half the population lives in poverty. What’s more, hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees fled the country almost six years ago to escape violence and persecution, and most of them are hosted in Bangladesh.

Families need life-saving aid and protection.

Extreme weather events such as Cyclone Mocha may have longer-term impacts for the more than one million refugees from Myanmar already in exile, hoping to return home. In Myanmar, the coming monsoon will make communities, especially those who are displaced, more vulnerable.

Help now to reach families in need.

    • HK$ 31,200 could support 100 Rohingya families affected by the monsoon with shelter materials such as rope, wire and bamboo in Bangladesh.

    • HK$ 55,260 could provide a post disaster kit (2 sleeping mats, 2 blankets, 1 tarp, 1 bucket, 1 jerry can, 200 aqua tabs, 1.5 kg rope, 5 bathing soaps, 1 bag) to 92 affected refugee households.

    • HK$ 80,030 could provide 57 families with emergency shelter and non-food items to meet their domestic needs during displacement.
