Keep vulnerable refugees warm to withstand the bitter winter
During the winter months each year, people forced to flee are faced with increased hardships. They struggle each month to pay rent in inadequate accommodation and could hardly meet basic needs like heating, warm clothes and hot meals, as household expenses for these can skyrocket in the winter months. Around 14 million children are expected to suffer acute levels of malnutrition this winter.
With your generous support,
- HK$25,200 can provide blankets to 80 families affected by the displacement crisis in Afghanistan.
- HK$45,000 can provide winter cash assistance for 15 refugee families living in Jordan to help them prepare for and cope with increasingly harsh winters due to climate change.
- HK$81,900 can insulate 7 typical homes in Ukraine, enabling families to better sustain a warm home during the winter months.
We need to act now before severe weather cuts off access to some areas of the countries. Please send your gift to help them get through the coming harsh winter.
I'd like to make a one-time donation of the below amount:
Your money helps UNHCR provide protection, shelter and other forms of assistance, and advocacy on behalf of displaced and stateless people every year.
We ensure that as many funds as possible are redirected to refugees, stateless persons and asylum-seekers. 85 per cent of all funds raised go directly to field operations. 7 per cent is allocated for global programmes, helping refugees, internally displaced people, asylum seekers and stateless people under the UNHCR mandate around the world, and 8 per cent is for headquarters administration.
UNHCR staff work as closely as possible with and for people forced to flee, with 90 per cent of our workforce based in field locations. For further details on UNHCR's budget, read our Global Report.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organisation dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for people forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution.
We lead international action to protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people.
We deliver life-saving assistance, help safeguard fundamental human rights, and develop solutions that ensure people have a safe place called home where they can build a better future. We also work to ensure that stateless people are granted a nationality.
We work in over 130 countries, using our expertise to protect and care for millions.
