Winter is here. Rain, flooding, snow and sub-zero temperatures are threatening the lives of people forced to spend winter far from home. They need support now.  

In Lebanon, entire neighbourhoods have been flattened by airstrikes and families are sleeping on the ground, without as much as a blanket. In Afghanistan, people are having to choose between heating and eating, despite temperatures dropping well below freezing. In Ukraine, people are struggling to repair and insulate bombed-out homes.

This winter, our teams are dealing with vastly different crises across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, stretching our operations and our budgets like never before.  

But your donations can provide life-saving support and help people survive the depths of winter.  

Whatever it takes, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is here to protect people from the cold.

How does UNHCR spend my donation?

Your money helps UNHCR provide protection, shelter and other forms of assistance, and advocacy on behalf of displaced and stateless people every year

We ensure that as many funds as possible are redirected to refugees, stateless persons and asylum-seekers. 85 per cent of all funds raised go directly to field operations. 7 per cent is allocated for global programmes, helping refugees, internally displaced people, asylum seekers and stateless people under the UNHCR mandate around the world, and 8 per cent is for headquarters administration.
