UNHCR | Support Charity Refugee Film Festival

Each year on 20 June, the world celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. 


In Hong Kong, to celebrate World Refugee Day, UNHCR will continue to host the 18th Charity Refugee Film Festival. This year, UNHCR will focus on advocating “Solidarity with Refugees” as the theme, sharing more stories of refugees and solidarity with the Hong Kong audience. 
 
To mark the film’s Hong Kong premiere and deepen public understanding of the refugee experience behind the story, UNHCR will host a special screening and post-film discussion. Alongside the invited guest, Director Lau Kok Rui, Director Adam Wong and UNHCR staff Ambrose, the discussion would focus on their own experience and the thoughts after watching the film.

How does UNHCR spend my donation?

Your money helps UNHCR provide protection, shelter and other forms of assistance, and advocacy on behalf of displaced and stateless people every year

We ensure that as many funds as possible are redirected to refugees, stateless persons and asylum-seekers. 85 per cent of all funds raised go directly to field operations. 7 per cent is allocated for global programmes, helping refugees, internally displaced people, asylum seekers and stateless people under the UNHCR mandate around the world, and 8 per cent is for headquarters administration.
