Climate Crisis

Climate Change

Refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and the stateless are on the frontlines of the climate emergency.

Climate change is already an unescapable reality for many displaced people and refugees. Refugees and displaced people were often forced to flee and live in areas that are climate “hotspots” – meaning that it’s very prone to climate shocks and environment deterioration.

UNHCR needs your support!

  • With just HK$100 a month, we could distribute more than 820 briquettes per household for a year, a more sustainable energy source for refugees.

  • A donation of HK$350 a month allows five internally displaced people (IDP) households access to drinking water from a water tank for a year.

  • HK$500 a month can provide a displaced person with one month of cash assistance so they can afford what they need.

There is no safe place from climate change, which is why we must treat it as a global emergency.  We need to act now!

About us:

UNHCR – The UN Refugee agency : The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve their problems worldwide. On the following year on July 28th, the United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, the legal foundation of helping refugees and the basic statute guiding UNHCR’s work, was adopted.

The primary purpose of UNHCR is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country. The agency also has a mandate to help stateless people.

In an effort to protect refugees and to promote solutions to their problems, UNHCR seeks to reduce situations of forced displacement by encouraging states and other institutions to create conditions which are conducive to the protection of human rights and the peaceful resolution of disputes. UNHCR works in partnership with governments, regional organizations, international and non-governmental organizations to achieve these objectives.

For a one-time donation, it will support UNHCR work where refugees and internally displaced people are in need.

For a monthly donation, it will provide refugees with ongoing relief and protection and help them regain hope for a better future. Your monthly donation will also be used for any emergency preparedness and response activities, like supporting the forcibly displaced from Ukraine and any emergency globally that needs our urgent assistance.

The transaction fee may be applied by a few credit card-issuing banks. For details, please contact your card-issuing bank.
