Over 780,000 Congolese people have fled to 20 other African countries and an estimated 4.5 million people are internally displaced inside the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Bampendi and his six-year-old twin sisters, Mbuyi and Kanku, were orphaned when their mother was killed. Their father is still missing. Like many others, the three children were forced to flee their home. They are now alone, living in orphanage Kananga, Kasai Central Province where hundreds of thousands people have been internally displaced. They need somebody to care for them.
Renewed conflict has caused further deterioration of an already dire humanitarian situation. In 2018, conditions in the provinces of Ituri and North Kivu have worsened sharply. Violence, forced recruitment, sexual and gender-based violence and kidnapping, compounded with an Ebola outbreak in some parts of the region, are increasing people`s suffering and forcing them to abandon their homes in search of safety and relief.
Your help is needed to protect all the refugee and internally displaced children, women and men who are struggling to survive right now in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
