Afaf is suffering from severe malnutrition. He’s just nine-months-old.
The brutal conflict in South Sudan has claimed thousands of lives and driven over four million people from their homes, who had to seek safety in neighbouring countries or other areas within their national borders. Most of them are women and children, who arrived at the settlements exhausted and traumatized. Escalating violence in some parts of South Sudan continues to affect civilians, forcing many to flee.
Now, lives like Afaf’s are threatened once more by critical food shortages, mainly caused by the conflict that has prevented people farming. If humanitarian assistance is not timely provided, people are being pushed to the brink of famine once again.
We are on the ground delivering emergency food, water and shelter to children like Afaf, but our stocks are dangerously low.
