Since political violence erupted in Burundi in 2015, hundreds of thousands have been forced to flee into neighbouring countries. Some are now opting to return home, but over 300,000 people are still refugees across the region. Behind that appalling statistic are real people like Daisy, their lives torn apart.

Health and other basic services are struggling to cope with the overcrowded, under-resourced camps and many children risk missing out on their education and a chance to build a future.

We’re helping Burundi’s refugees get the basics like food and shelter. We are protecting them from harm and getting children back into school. We are also assisting those who decide to voluntary return to their country despite the complex situation. But the scale of the need is immense, and we can’t do this alone.
