Winter doesn’t wait for conflicts or wars. For families forced to flee, winter puts lives at risk, especially when there’s no shelter to keep the cold out.
This winter, millions of people from Afghanistan, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Ukraine are either living in temporary accommodation – forced far from their homes – or are trying to rebuild their lives in war-damaged buildings.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is working tirelessly to support refugees, displaced people and others affected by war. We repair and reinforce damaged houses, and seal windows and doors to keep out the cold. We also distribute heaters, blankets and warm clothing, along with solar lamps for dark nights, along with essential cash grants, so that families can buy essentials like food, medicine and heating fuel.
But we can’t do this work without you. We need your support to reach every family who needs us – before the cold does.

Donations made directly to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, may not be tax-deductible depending on the country you are in. National laws and regulations applicable to contributions to United Nations agencies vary from country to country. UNHCR partners with dedicated fundraising associations in a number of countries. In such countries, in order to make a tax-deductible donation through these entities, you will need to donate through their individual websites.
