UNHCR Philippines | Libya Floods Emergency
Powerful Storm Daniel brought record-breaking rainfall, causing dams to collapse and neighbourhoods to be wiped out. Thousands of people have lost their lives. Families have been displaced, losing their homes and livelihoods due to surging waters.
This natural disaster is not only driving new displacement but making life even more precarious for tens of thousands of refugees and internally displaced people in Libya. After being uprooted from their homes by conflict and violence, they are displaced once again, forced to start over.
We need your urgent support to help those in need.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is providing emergency assistance to those affected by the devastating flooding. Working closely with national and international partners, we’ve dispatched emergency supplies – such as tarpaulins, blankets, solar lamps and soap – are deploying an emergency team and activating an emergency hotline. But there is much more to be done, and we need help to scale up our response. You can make a difference.

How would you like to donate?
Monthly gifts help us save more families forced to flee. By making a monthly donation to UNHCR, you will provide people forced to flee with ongoing relief and protection and help them regain hope for a better future. In the event that our Libya emergency response becomes fully funded, your support will go to provide life-saving support to people forced to flee by emergencies worldwide.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organization working to save lives, protect rights and build a better future for refugees, internally displaced communities and stateless people. We work to ensure that everybody has the right to seek asylum and find refuge from violence or persecution.
By choosing to give a regular donation, you will be helping UNHCR to plan ahead and invest in long-term projects to improve the lives of refugees.
Faster help: Monthly donations allow UNHCR to respond to emergencies when a crisis occurs. Your gift can go where it's most needed.
Support of long-term operations: More predictable income helps UNHCR go beyond short-term emergency aid and provide families with ongoing relief and protection every single day.
Easy to donate: To set up a recurring donation, please choose the Monthly option in the form. You can always update your donations by contacting our Donor Care team at [email protected].
Your money helps UNHCR provide protection, shelter and other forms of assistance, and advocacy on behalf of displaced and stateless people every year. We ensure that as many funds as possible are redirected to refugees, stateless persons and asylum-seekers. 85 per cent of all funds raised go directly to field operations. 7 per cent is allocated for global programmes, helping refugees, internally displaced people, asylum seekers and stateless people under the UNHCR mandate around the world, and 8 per cent is for headquarters administration. UNHCR staff work as closely as possible with and for people forced to flee, with 90 per cent of our workforce based in field locations. For further details on UNHCR's budget, read our Global Report.
Your donation is 100% secure.
